Hair transplant in Oldham

The clinic is at Hilton House, Irwell Street, Bury, BL9 0HZ — about ten miles from Oldham, on the far side of the M60. There is one clinic and no Oldham branch, so this page is about getting to the one that exists.

The road from Oldham

Most Oldham patients join the M60 and follow it round to Simister Island, where the M62 and the M66 meet, then head north on the M66 into Bury. Roughly ten miles, usually about half an hour off-peak.

It is short enough that the drive is not the thing to worry about. Your appointment confirmation carries the directions, and we would rather you left a margin for the ring road than arrived rushed.

Oldham has no railway station

Oldham's old loop line became part of the Metrolink, so there is no National Rail station in Oldham — the tram is the public transport option, and it is on the Rochdale line.

That line and the Bury line meet at Manchester Victoria, so the tram from Oldham runs into the city centre and back out to Bury. It works and it is well signed; it also takes far longer than the drive.

Bury Interchange, where the tram terminates, has the bus station attached and sits in the town centre.

The day itself

It begins with a free hair analysis. Dr Meena Zareie (GMC 7722917) or Dr Asfa Hussain (GMC 7727403, MRCSEd) assesses your donor area, agrees a plan and writes down a fixed price before you commit.

On the procedure day we treat one patient at a time. The doctor designs the hairline and carries out the surgical steps, you are awake and comfortable under local anaesthetic, and you go home the same day. Prices start from £3,500 for 1,000–1,600 grafts, £4,500 for 1,600–2,400 and £5,500 for 2,400–3,000+.

The year after the surgery

Reviews are scheduled in person through to the twelve-month result and are included in the price. Half an hour each way from Oldham is a manageable thing to repeat four or five times; a flight is not.

That is the argument for having this done in Greater Manchester rather than abroad, and it is not about the surgery day at all.
