What is an FUE hair transplant?
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a modern hair transplant technique in which individual follicular units are extracted directly from the donor area and transplanted into areas affected by hair loss.
Unlike traditional strip surgery, FUE does not involve removing a strip of scalp. Follicles are extracted individually with a fine FUE punch, leaving small extraction points across the donor area.
Every FUE procedure here is planned around your pattern of hair loss, donor capacity, existing hair, facial proportions and long-term goals. The objective is not simply to move hair from one area to another, but to create a balanced, natural-looking result while protecting the donor area for the future.
- No linear scar, because nothing is cut out as a strip
- A hairline planned around your face rather than a template
- A donor area managed for the long term, not emptied today
FUE and unshaven FUE
For suitable patients we can also discuss approaches designed to reduce how much visible shaving is required. Which technique fits depends on your hair, your donor area, the number of grafts needed and what you want out of the treatment.
If keeping your existing hair length matters to you, say so at the consultation so the most appropriate option can be assessed.

Advocates of Clinical Excellence
At Geneve clinic, our GMC registered surgeons provide their expertise in assessment and planning of your hair restoration goals and embark on the journey with you from beginning to end. From treatment at our CQC registered headquarters in Manchester to your follow up appointments, we are with you every step.
Why choose Geneve Clinic for FUE
A hair transplant here is not about transplanting the maximum number of grafts. It is about natural-looking restoration, careful donor management and a plan built around one patient.
- Doctor-led planning — Every treatment plan takes account of your facial proportions, existing hair, pattern of hair loss, donor capacity and long-term restoration goals.
- Natural hairline design — Particular attention goes to hairline design, graft selection, direction, angle and density, so that transplanted hair complements the hair you already have.
- Sapphire FUE — Precise sapphire instruments allow controlled recipient-site creation and natural graft placement.
- Unshaven FUE expertise — Selected patients can undergo transplantation without fully shaving the recipient area.
- 12-month aftercare — Our care continues beyond surgery with structured follow-up throughout recovery and growth.
What patients say on Google
I cannot recommend Dr. Meena Zareie and the team at Geneve Clinic highly enough. From the initial consultation through to the procedure and post-operative care, the standard of service has been exceptional. Her knowledge, attention to detail and approach to planning the transplant immediately gave me confidence in my decision. Communication throughout has been excellent, with clear explanations, realistic expectations and thorough aftercare guidance at every stage. The procedure itself was handled with great care and professionalism, and the pricing was amazing. An excellent experience from start to finish. 💯

What to expect at Geneve Hair Transplant Clinic in Manchester
A word from the surgeon Dr Meena Zareie to our patients
Step 1: Consultation
When you visit our CQC regulated clinic in Manchester, you meet with myself — your surgeon and a patient care advisor, who perform a careful assessment and gather information to create a tailored treatment plan.
We listen to your concerns and set realistic expectations, in addition to providing education on recommended treatments specific to your individual circumstances and goals. We can also discuss affordable payment options if the financial aspect is a concern. We believe in fair pricing and making hair surgery accessible for all.
At our hair loss clinic in Bury, Greater Manchester, we endeavour to provide you with the service we would expect for ourselves, which means caring for you and your hair every step of the way, even if an FUE hair transplant is not right for you at this time.
Step 2: Your surgery
Your hair transplant surgery is completed in less than 8 hours. Minimally invasive techniques with micro FUE punches are used to extract the grafts once the donor area (usually back and sides of the scalp) has been numbed with local anaesthetic. We take our time with the local anaesthetic injections to ensure pain is kept to a minimum and you are comfortable throughout.
This step is followed by incisions into the recipient zones (thinned or bald areas) with the sapphire FUE method, which is one of the most effective and advanced techniques currently available. Angles, direction and density are determined at this point by your surgeon performing the surgery.
Lastly, the follicles (grafts) are implanted by our highly trained technicians one by one until the surgery is complete. Aftercare instructions are explained carefully, and you can leave the clinic when you are ready.
Step 3: Post operative period
Totalling two weeks, beginning the day after surgery.
Days 1–3 involve sleeping in a careful position to avoid dislodging the grafts. Days 4–7 require gentle rinsing of the transplanted areas to cleanse and aid healing — by this time you can sleep normally.
Days 7–14 consist of soft circular massages with fingertips and soaking of the transplanted follicles to encourage scabs to lift away. This week is more relaxed and you can do more daily activities.
From 14 days onwards most restrictions are lifted and you can return to normal life. During days 14–28 new hairs will begin to grow, and then shed while they enter a resting phase, and the donor area will be healed over and will begin to feel more like it did pre operatively.
At 3–4 months some of the transplanted hairs begin to grow, and as months continue, more and more hairs will start to grow. By 12 months you should see your final result, but for some an extended few months is needed, often in the crown region.
We recommend quarterly catch ups to track progress and at 12 months a review meeting to discuss and assess results and future steps.

Frequently asked questions
Who is a hair transplant suitable for?
Broadly, people with stable, hereditary hair loss and a sufficiently strong donor area at the back of the head. Whether surgery makes sense in your individual case is what the medical hair analysis is for — with very active hair loss or certain scalp conditions we may recommend other measures first.

How much does a hair transplant cost?
The cost depends mainly on the number of grafts you need, the method and the complexity of the plan. After your free hair analysis you receive a binding fixed-price quote. You will find guide figures on our cost page.

What are the risks of a hair transplant?
Like any medical procedure, a hair transplant is not entirely risk-free. Possible issues include swelling, redness, temporary numbness, minor infections or — rarely — disappointing graft survival. We discuss all risks openly during the medical consultation and check whether anything argues against surgery in your case.
Learn more: Side effects & risks
Does the FUE method leave visible scars?
FUE needs no scalpel incision. The dot-like extraction points usually heal so discreetly that they are not noticeable at normal hair lengths. With a very closely shaved back of the head, fine light dots may remain visible.

When will I see the final result?
Visible regrowth usually starts from months 3–4. At around 6 months the result can be judged well, and the final result typically shows at 12 months. Individual timelines vary.
